First Published - 04/27/2018 - 10:24AM

Due to declining internet ticket sales, Metra is eliminating the Ticket-by-Internet program – which includes recurring orders and one-time sales of Monthly Passes and 10-Ride Tickets on its website. The last day to purchase a Monthly Pass (July) via this program will be June 20 and the last day to purchase a 10-Ride Ticket will be June 30. This action is part of a continuing effort by Metra to identify ways to reduce expenses. Please see alternate purchasing options here.

Daughters and sons ride free on April 27

(April 19, 2017) -

Metra today announced that it will recognize Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day on April 27 by waiving the fares for young people 18 and under who are accompanied by an adult. Every adult who purchases a ticket can bring up to three children for free.

“Metra has been celebrating Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day for several years, and we hope to make it easier for our customers to do the same by offering free rides for their children,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “This day provides a unique opportunity for boys and girls to be exposed to what their parents do during the workday, and we know that for many of our riders, commuting with Metra is a part of that.”

The theme of this year’s Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day is “Count On Me.” Children are encouraged to learn about becoming a part of a workplace team, accepting responsibilities, and working together. Parents can tag their social media posts with #COUNTONME to show their support for Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
